Welcome to European Data Protection Summit Manchester, opening today

Tuesday 13th and Wednesday 14th of November will see Manchester’s Victorian Warehouse host two days of networking, industry discussion and top-level insight into data protection, privacy and security.

Over two days, European Data Protection Summit (EUDPS) Manchester will examine the challenges, opportunities and solutions on a complex data privacy landscape, where international regulation is rapidly evolving.

Delegates can join a global community of data protection, privacy, governance and security professionals to share experiences, knowledge and debate insights delivered to audiences.

Tuesday morning

Steve Wright, Partner at Privacy Culture, gives an overview of the global privacy landscape in his opening remarks, before marketing leader and GDPR specialist, Julia Porter, looks at the positive and negative impact of the GDPR, 16 months after the framework’s implementation.

After refreshments and networking, delegates can hear our experts debate privacy in the era of emerging technologies, AI, robotics, big data and algorithms.

On the panel are Ivana Bartoletti, Head of Privacy and Data Protection at Gemserv, Tash Whitaker, Global Data Privacy Director at Whitaker Solutions Ltd, Rowenna Fielding, Senior Data Protection Lead at Protecture, Rob Masson, Founder at The DPO Centre, and Ernesto Broersma, Partner Technical Specialist at Mimecast.

Approaching midday, data privacy expert Hellen Beveridge looks at what may be hindering the C-suite on the corporate compliance journey, as organisations work to fall in line with the GDPR and further evolving data privacy frameworks.

Tuesday afternoon

Ivana Bartolleti takes to the stage once more to present her views on the legalities of video surveillance and associated threats to privacy.

Following Ivana’s fascinating and timely appraisal of an issue of fundamental importance, our second panel debate of the day studies third party and vendor risk management for privacy.

On the speaking panel are: Hellen Beveridge, Data Protection Lead at Data Oversight, Dan Cope, Data Privacy Manager at Financial Services Industry, Natasha Warner, Head of Privacy and Information Management at Financial Services Industry. Rocio De La Cruz, Principal Associate, Lead of Privacy Law and Global DP Projects at Gowling WLG.

Before breaking for afternoon refreshments, Fedelma Good, Director at Data Protection Strategy, Legal and Compliance Services at PwC teams up with Jane Foord-Kelcey, Senior Manager and Solicitor of Data Protection Strategy, Legal and Compliance Services at PwC, to give our audience members a great recipe for cookies.

Our first day at EUDPS Manchester ends with a third panel debate, in which the future of marketing and ad-tech goes under the spotlight.

Natasha Warner, Head of Privacy and Information Management at Financial Services Industry explains how to create a successful data governance framework in the last of Tuesday’s keynotes, before Steve Wright closes.

Be part of the debate

Delegates will have the opportunity to put questions to our experts at the end of each presentation in live Q&A sessions. Take notes through each session and don’t miss the opportunity to get your views and queries across.

You can also follow the conversation on social media using #EUDPS

Of course, take the time to network and share ideas with fellow CEOs, CISOs, IT and data professionals during each break.
